Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons Could Feature Mouse Controller Mode

Leaked material manifests suggest the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons might offer a mouse-like controller mode, similar to the Lenovo Legion Go.

Recent leaks related to the Nintendo Switch 2 suggest the console's Joy-Cons could feature a mouse-like controller mode. This feature would allow the controllers to be used similarly to a computer mouse, as already seen on the Lenovo Legion Go. This information comes from shipping manifests and was shared on Famiboards by user LiC.

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons Could Feature Mouse Controller Mode

LiC, based on a shipping manifest, has speculated that the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons will have rubber feet that are placed near the top of the rails and at the bottom, allowing for mouse-like operation.

"If the Joy-Con is to be used as a mouse, it needs rubber feet to slide on. They don't totally look like it in the photo to my eyes, but the ring at the top of the rail and the oval at the bottom could be rubber feet," - LiC, Famiboards user.

The manifest, which refers to a sheet of adhesive tape used for construction of a "game console handle", strongly suggests this functionality.

Other Rumored Features

Other rumored features for the Nintendo Switch 2 include:

  • An 8-inch LCD screen
  • 12 GB of system memory
  • Backward compatibility with original Switch games
  • Sync with the existing Nintendo Switch Online content.
  • Magnetic attachments for the Joy-Cons

The new console is expected to arrive by March 2025. It remains to be seen if the Joy-Cons will retain a similar price point to the current generation which currently retail for $79.99.
