Nothing Phone (3a) Leaks: Mid-Range Disruptor on the Horizon

Mark your calendar, tech folks. Nothing finally confirmed an event on March 4th, 2025. Although the company is being relatively secretive, all hints are very strongly in place now for Nothing's most anticipated product, the nothing Phone (3a), or maybe even the Phone (3a) Plus. Thanks to some fresh leaks, the rumor mill has been churning for weeks. Now we will get a much clearer picture of what Carl Pei's company might be cooking up for the mid-range segment.

Diving into the Leaked Specs

According to details unearthed by the ever-reliable @gadget_bits on platform X, Nothing Phone (3a) is going to be impressive. Let's look at the juiciest bits:

  • Display: Generous 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED with a super-smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate; enjoy vivid colors and fluid scrolling.
  • Processor: Reports of this sort of smartphone will see the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset under the hood. A 4nm processor should therefore deliver strong overall performance while also granting strong efficiency for regular tasks and games.
  • RAM & Storage: Configurations could go as high as a ridiculous 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Enough space and memory for most users.
  • Operating System: Android 15 straight out of the box, skinned with Nothing OS 3.1. Expect that signature clean, near-stock Android experience with Nothing's unique visual flair and customization options.

Camera Upgrades and Downgrades

The camera department is on fire, and the Phone (3a) has several interesting decisions in store for you:

  • Main Camera: A 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is expected to deliver sharp and stable photos.
  • Telephoto Lens is IN: Time for some zoomed shots. According to rumor mill, the Phone (3a) will launch with a 50MP telephoto shooter, which will be welcomed by a lot of users and is actually an upgrade.
  • Ultra-wide Camera. a Step Back?: Curiously, the ultra-wide sensor is probably an 8MP sensor. Useful but still, it's a spec decrease from the Phone (2a) 50MP ultra-wide. Maybe that's one of the ways to keep the cost down to include the telephoto.
  • Selfie Camera: The front shooter is highly likely to stay at a 32MP sensor, which should serve its purpose handsomely for selfies and video calls.

Rumors are also saying that the Phone (3a) Plus will really take it up a notch by equipping a periscope telephoto camera – we will have to wait and see what the final product will be.

Battery, Connectivity, and Glyph Magic

The rest of the leaked specs:

  • Battery: 5000mAh battery is acceptable, paired with 45W wired fast charging. Should easily get you through a day.
  • Connectivity: Future-proofed with 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
  • Glyph Interface Returns: The mainstay of the Glyph lights on the back is returning and remains that Nothing signature design element.

Launch Imminent

It's all but confirmed it seems. Nothing has gone ahead and created microsites on Flipkart and their India website (essentially redirecting users to Flipkart), with the URL itself spelling it out pretty much in bold: Nothing Phone 3a is on its way, indeed.

Final Thoughts: A Mid-Range Game Changer

If these leaks are true, then Nothing Phone will definitely stand a good chance as one of the not-so-bad smartphones in the mid-range segment. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 along with an AMOLED screen does make for a great device. How this slight ultra-wide camera downgrade does fit into the deal is something to be waited and watched. We will be closely following Nothing's March 4th event to see if these rumors pan out and for the official details. Is this going to be the mid-range disruptor we have been waiting for. It certainly looks promising.
