NVIDIA's next-generation Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, rumored to be called DLSS 4, is reportedly on its way and may be announced alongside the upcoming GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards.
DLSS 4 Confirmed by Leaker
Leaker Kopite7kimi, who previously revealed the RTX 5090/5080 TDP specs, has confirmed that DLSS 4 is indeed in development. The rumors initially surfaced when a retailer allegedly listed an ASUS RTX 5080 card with DLSS 4 support. This suggests that NVIDIA may use DLSS 4 as a key marketing feature for the RTX 50 lineup.
Inno3D Teases AI Features
Adding fuel to the fire, Inno3D, one of NVIDIA's board partners, has teased some "AI features" to be revealed at CES 2025, including "Advanced DLSS technology." The company also mentioned "Neural Rendering Capabilities," which it believes will "revolutionize how graphics are processed and displayed," hinting at an even more significant role for AI in the graphics pipeline, possibly as part of DLSS 4.
Notably, AMD is also expected to showcase its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4 technology at CES 2025, which is also rumored to be fully AI-driven, setting the stage for an exciting period of advancements in graphics upscaling and performance technologies.
DLSS 4 Compatibility
It's important to note that while DLSS 4 might be partially supported by all RTX cards, some of its features may be exclusive to the RTX 50 series, similar to how NVIDIA has separated upscaling and frame generation between different generations of its GPUs.
