Following the launch of the new RTX 50 series graphics cards at CES 2025, Nvidia is reportedly preparing to clear out remaining inventory of its RTX 40 series. According to industry sources, RTX 4070 and higher-end models are expected to sell out entirely this month, while RTX 4060 stock will continue to be sold into March.
RTX 4070 and Above Inventory Clearing Out
Retail channels indicate that RTX 4070, and higher-end graphics cards are expected to be sold out by the end of January. This clears the way for the RTX 50 series, which includes the RTX 5090D at ¥16,499 (Chinese Yuan) and the RTX 5080 at ¥8,299, set to launch on January 30th.
RTX 4060 Series Supply and Price Increases
Starting in February, major AIC (Add-in-Card) manufacturers are anticipated to primarily have only RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 models remaining in stock. These are expected to be the last of the 40 series cards to be sold off.
- RTX 4060 Series: Prices have recently increased by approximately 20-40 yuan, and manufacturers are beginning to limit supply starting in January. This is due to the need to sell off the remaining inventory through March, when production will end for the series. This strategic approach is designed to maintain rational sales from distributors. Sources predict that the 4060 series will become even more scarce starting in February.
- RTX 4060 Ti Series: Supply of the RTX 4060 Ti is currently described as "excessively" tight due to limited GPU availability from Nvidia. Some manufacturers had already taken steps to control the distribution pace, which may allow for limited stock to be released through January, however distributors are still unlikely to meet their expected demand. The remaining stock is expected to be cleared in February.
These factors indicate a potential shortage and rising prices for RTX 4060 series cards in the coming months.
