The Philips OLED+950 television series is announced, featuring groundbreaking tandem OLED technology for record-breaking brightness, enhanced color.

Philips OLED+950: Blindingly Brilliant with Tandem OLED Technology

Philips OLED+950: Tandem OLED Technology Unleashes Blinding Brightness

It's about to get really, really bright. The latest and arguably greatest series television from Philips, the OLED+950, is officially underway. Their latest series is shining brighter than previously thought humanly possible. Anchoring it is a fresh new LG Display tandem OLED panel. This promises a wholesale reimagining of how people think about television brightness and color.

Record Breaking Brightness: 3,700 Nits and Onwards

Joining the ranks of LG and Panasonic, Philips is leveraging this cutting-edge tandem OLED technology. It's also found in models like the LG G5 and Panasonic Z95B. However, Philips is boldly stepping forward with concrete numbers. They state the OLED+950 can reach a staggering 3,700 nits peak brightness in HDR mode. Even full-screen brightness is impressive at 350 nits.

Put that into context: the great LG OLED G4 from 2024 tops out at 1,550 nits and 224 nits full-screen, per Rtings. The OLED+950 is something different altogether. Real-world brightness may of course vary, but these figures point to a monumental leap in OLED technology.

Increased Color and Clarity

Beyond brightness, this new panel promises richer, more vibrant colors. Philips claims 99.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and an impressive 83% of BT.2020. This equates to more lifelike and nuanced picture quality. For those battling reflections, the OLED+950 boasts an improved anti-reflective coating designed to minimize distractions.

Efficiency and Smart Features

Surprisingly, this leap in performance doesn't come at the cost of efficiency. The tandem OLED panel is said to use 20% less power than its predecessors. Philips' latest AI processor is also present. It further boosts contrast and HDR performance. Gamers are catered for, too, with a gaming mode. This mode automatically adjusts picture settings intelligently depending on game genre. There is also the ability to create custom profiles for individual titles. There's even the facility to enlarge and reposition in-game mini-maps.

Immersive Sound

To complete the home theater experience, the OLED+950 also houses an integrated 2.1-channel, 70-watt sound system. It is complete with a dedicated subwoofer and passive radiators for deeper bass.

Coming Soon (But Not to North America, Sadly)

The Philips OLED+950 will come during the second half of 2025 in both 65-inch and 77-inch sizes. Pricing is still to be confirmed. Unfortunately for our North American readers, high-end Philips TVs tend not to make it to that market. For the rest of the world, though, the OLED+950 is shaping up to be one of the flagship TVs to beat.
