The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, despite launching two months after the Ryzen 9000 series, has already surpassed the combined sales of all Ryzen 9000 CPUs, according to German retailer Mindfactory.
Mindfactory, known for its transparent sales statistics, revealed that the 9800X3D has sold 8,650 units to date. While impressive, this figure still falls significantly behind the 7800X3D, which has sold 78,420 units.
It's clear that gamers heavily favor 6-core or 8-core processors, and the Ryzen 9000 series did not bring enough significant performance improvements to attract the attention of consumers and gamers.
Even AMD’s adjustments to CPU pricing have not made a substantial impact on the market, and Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series, which underperformed in gaming tests, has also failed to create a shift in consumer preferences.
AMD is still expected to launch the 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X3D processor, which is expected to gain significant traction. While the 12 and 16-core Ryzen 9 9000X3D processors are launching later this month, they are unlikely to become top-sellers based on Zen 4 sales statistics.
