The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is set to feature a special edition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, dubbed "for Galaxy." Samsung and Qualcomm have unveiled the enhancements in this custom System-on-Chip (SoC), beyond just increased clock speeds.
Boosted Performance and Efficiency
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is overclocked by 150 MHz compared to the standard version, reaching a clock speed of up to 4.47 GHz. But the upgrades don’t stop there:
- ProScaler Technology: The chip integrates ProScaler technology, resulting in a 40% improvement in upscaling quality.
- Mobile Digital Natural Image Engine (mDNIe): To enhance energy efficiency, especially at these higher clock speeds, the chip incorporates mDNIe. This suite of algorithms improves display power consumption.
Performance Gains Compared to Previous Generation
Samsung highlighted several performance gains of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy over the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy:

- Neural Processing Unit (NPU): A significant 40% improvement in AI performance.
Enhanced Camera Capabilities
The Image Signal Processor (ISP) has also been upgraded. It now supports a Spatio-Temporal Filter (STF) that allows for more detailed low-light video recording in 8K at 30 fps.
