Samsung has announced that its Good Lock app, previously limited to certain regions, will soon be available globally through the Google Play Store. This move coincides with the upcoming launch of the One UI 7 interface.
What is Good Lock?
Good Lock is a suite of apps that allow users to customize both the user interface ("Make-up") and enhance daily usability ("Life-up") of their Samsung devices. Examples of Good Lock apps include:
- Navstar: Customize the navigation bar and add frequently used functions.
- Notistar: Filter notifications based on keywords.
Availability and Timing
Samsung has confirmed that the Good Lock app will be rolled out alongside the release of One UI 7, expected in the first two weeks of February. However, the company is also dealing with existing issues.
Ongoing Issues with App Updates
While this global rollout is a positive step, Samsung is still grappling with a long-standing bug that affects certain system apps in the Google Play Store. When updates are released, users are notified, but the updates don't appear in the "Pending downloads" list, requiring manual updates.
The following apps are currently affected:
- Android Switch
- Android System Intelligence
- Google Partner-Setup
- Google Wi-Fi Provisioner
- Settings Services
- YouTube
Other Samsung Issues
In addition to this app update issue, Samsung has recently faced complaints about peeling display coatings on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Users are advised that screen protectors may help mitigate this problem.
