Smite 2 is set to enter its Open Beta phase on January 14th, allowing anyone interested to jump into the action. The game, which has been in Alpha for some time, will see the addition of new content, including five new Gods and three new game modes.
Open Beta Launch and New Content
The transition to Open Beta marks a significant step for Smite 2. Previously, access was limited to those with Alpha keys or those who purchased the Founder's Pack. The Open Beta will now be free for all players, bringing with it a wealth of new features, including:
- Five New Gods: Including the newly added Aladdin.
- Three New Game Modes: Joust, Duel, and Assault, in addition to the existing Arena and Conquest modes.
Background and Development
Hi-Rez Studios has been focused on developing Smite 2, leading to a reorganization of their teams. This shift, while "difficult but necessary," according to Stewart Chisam, aims to ensure Smite 2's "long and sustainable future." The original Smite was released in 2014, with Smite 2 announced after the game's 10-year anniversary celebration. The developers are planning to support the game well into the 2030s.
