Tesla has officially unveiled the Model Y Juniper refresh, the first major facelift for its popular electric SUV. While it brings a refreshed design, enhanced interior features, and a quieter ride, the Juniper comes at a slightly higher price point and with modest range and charging speed improvements compared to its predecessor. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect.
Model Y Juniper Pricing and Release Date
The Model Y Juniper refresh is priced as follows:
Model | Price (Equivalent) |
---|---|
RWD | $35,900 |
Dual-Motor AWD | $41,400 |
The Model Y Juniper is launching in March in China, with availability in Asia Pacific markets in May. The US release date is expected in Q1 or Q2, pending regulatory approval.
Model Y Juniper Specs and Battery Range
The Juniper refresh offers the following specs and range:
- Range: 310 miles EPA equivalent range (Dual-Motor AWD)
- Acceleration: 4.3 seconds 0-60 mph
- Top Speed: 125 mph (201 km/h)
- Drag Coefficient: 0.22cd
- Charging Speed: 250 kW (170 kW for RWD)
While the range has seen a slight increase, it’s likely due to improved drivetrain efficiency rather than a larger battery. The charging speed, unfortunately, remains the same as the previous Model Y, with a slower speed for the RWD model.
Model Y Juniper Design, Ride Comfort and Interior Features
The Model Y Juniper boasts a more streamlined and aggressive design with:
- Front and rear light bars
- Acoustic windows for a quieter ride
- Heated and vented front seats
- Indicator stalk
- Electric folding rear seats
- Automatic trunk door
- 16 speakers
- Colorful ambient lighting
- Larger 15.4-inch main and 8-inch rear touchscreens
Tesla has also enhanced the suspension, wheels, and tires for smoother handling and a more comfortable ride. The rear seats can be folded electrically, providing a trunk capacity of over 2,130 liters. The rear trunk opens automatically for easier loading.
Model Y Juniper FSD Hardware
The Model Y Juniper features Tesla’s latest Hardware 4.0 cameras and autonomous driving computer, including the front bumper camera from the Cybertruck. This will support Tesla’s newest FSD v13 update.
Unfortunately, the Model Y Juniper may not be eligible for the federal EV tax credit, depending on the current administration's policy.
