Peace be upon you all, I'm incredibly excited to share with you the most anticipated games of 2025. This year is shaping up to be HUGE, potentially the best of this console generation, with a fantastic variety of titles on the horizon. We're diving into over 20 games in this article, so let's get started!
The Must-Play Games of 2025:
Dynasty Warriors (Release: January 17)
The beloved Dynasty Warriors series is back with a fresh vision. This version features a new story, redesigned characters, improved gameplay mechanics, and enhanced character abilities. Expect a very enjoyable experience with large-scale battles and engaging combat. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (Release: February 4)
For fans of medieval combat and realism, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II delivers an immersive first-person RPG experience. Explore an open world, engage in sword fights with detailed realism, interact with the environment, and embark on a journey of exploration and stealth. This game will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but unfortunately.
Assassin's Creed Shadows (Release: February 14)
Finally, we get to experience Assassin's Creed in Japan! Set in ancient Japan, the game offers two playable characters: a samurai and a ninja, each with a unique playstyle. Explore a vast open world, choose your character depending on your preferred playstyle, and enjoy the well-known Assassin's Creed elements. It will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Avowed (Release: February 18)
Avowd, open-world RPG from Ebdian Studios gives you the freedom to design your own character, choose your own path (hero, villain, etc), and offers both first and third-person perspectives. Enjoy the freedom of character development, explore the world, solve puzzles, and engage in combat using various weapons and magical abilities.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii (Release: February 21)
This Yakuza spin-off takes place in the world of pirates and features Goro in the lead role. Expect RPG adventures, combat action, and a humorous narrative. The game introduces ships, pirate wars, and new combat techniques, taking place on various islands. Online interaction with other players will also be available. It's set to release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Monster Hunter Wilds (Release: February 28)
Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest in the series and aims to be more accessible for all players. Enjoy an easy and enjoyable experience in a very large open world to hunt monsters. Each monster will require a different strategy. You can play online with friends or summon characters for help. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
Split Fiction (Release: March 6)
From the creators of A Way Out and It Takes Two, Split Fiction is a co-op adventure with a strange story between two girls entering each other's worlds. The gameplay features constantly changing mechanics and a wealth of new ideas. Look for it on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
First Zarkar Kazan (Release: March 27)
This dark fantasy action-adventure game centers on a character who has returned from the brink of death, set on a path of revenge. The game blends elements of Souls-like games with an action focus, beautiful graphics, and a variety of enemies. It will be released on consoles and PC, though it is not yet known if it will be good or not.
InZOI (Release: March 28)
Developed by a Korean studio, this life simulation game aims to revolutionize the genre. It offers a realistic world with detailed characters and amazing interactions. Expect a vast level of character design, realistic house customization, and the ability to explore the outside world. It is set to launch exclusively on PC.
Borderlands 4 (Release: TBD 2025)
The beloved shooter series returns with a new story set on a mysterious planet. Face a new villain who controls time, with a variety of characters, each with unique abilities. Expect new vehicles, more loot, and cooperative gameplay with four classes of characters. The game is coming to consoles and PC with no set date.
Ghost of Yotei (Release: TBD 2025)
A new installment in the Ghost of Tsushima universe will feature a female lead character. Expect the same open-world experience in ancient Japan, but with more advanced weapons and a focus on exploration.
Little Nightmares 3 (Release: TBD 2025)
This new installment in the cute horror series for the first time allows co-op and it will feature the same psychological horror, mystery, and bizarre ideas the series is known for. It will launch on current and previous generation devices.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (Release: TBD 2025)
This remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is a highly anticipated release for fans of the Metal Gear series. Enjoy the deep and detailed gameplay, military stealth action, and exceptional characters. A legendary experience for newcomers and returning fans alike. The game will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree (Release: TBD 2025)
Fans of Elden Ring will see a new expansion. This mode is a 3 day challenge for players online, and this adds more difficulty as you go along from challenging bosses and enemies. You can play individually or co-op, and it will feature new weapons, abilities, and bosses.
Death Stranding 2 (Release: TBD 2025)
The sequel to the mystery-filled Death Stranding 2 game. The second entry is set to have more mystery and terror with an expanded world, interesting characters, and more action elements. The game is planned for PlayStation 5 exclusivity.
Fable (Release: TBD 2025)
A long-awaited reboot of the popular Xbox exclusive, Fable. Expect a deep RPG experience with a distinctive narrative, character customization, a third-person perspective, magic, combat, and decision-based gameplay. The game will launch exclusively for Xbox with stunning graphics.
Doom Dark Ages (Release: TBD 2025)
The Doom series returns with a new twist, integrating a medieval theme with the classic fast-paced action gameplay. Expect a crazy mix of combat, new weapons, environments, and enemies. The game is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Mafia: The Old Country (Release: TBD 2025 or 2026)
The new entry in the Mafia series will take players to old country with an interesting story and characters. The trailer shows that this game has a high production value, but there is a concern that it might be delayed until 2026 due to Rockstar also publishing. However, it has not been confirmed yet.
Crimson Desert (Release: TBD 2025)
This mysterious game offers an open-world action adventure with high levels of depth and detail. Expect a large amount of content, great graphics, and a mix of fantasy and development elements, from the team that brought us Black Desert Online. The game is scheduled for release on consoles and PC with no set date.
Dying Light The Beats (Release: TBD 2025)
The Dying Light series returns with a new entry, The Beast. Expect more zombies, a larger open-world, new mechanics, and crafting with the same parkour-focused gameplay we know from Dying Light.
Grand Theft Auto 6 (Release: TBD 2025)
Finally, we have the most anticipated game of the year (and possibly the decade): GTA 6. Rockstar and the publishing company claim this game will offer something exceptional with details that the world has never seen before. Expect vast map sizes, highly detailed environments, dark and dramatic story elements, and all the things you expect from the GTA franchise. The game is still planned to be released in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with strong rumors that the PC version will launch simultaneously.
