Following the reveal of The Witcher IV trailer, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has addressed concerns about the development team, assuring fans that veterans of the series are deeply involved in the project.
Veteran Developers Lead The Witcher IV
CDPR Director Michal Nowakowski has stated that over 100 developers who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are now working on The Witcher IV. Notably, several of these developers also contributed to the first and second installments of the series. This news aims to reassure fans who speculated that newcomers were handling the sequel.
Furthermore, the script for The Witcher IV is being written by the original writer of the 2007 The Witcher game. This is a significant point, showing that CDPR is ensuring experienced talent is at the core of the game's development.
Addressing Concerns about Sweet Baby Inc.
Nowakowski also clarified that CD Projekt Red has no affiliation with Sweet Baby Inc., an agency that some gamers have accused of influencing character diversity in video games. CDPR had not even heard of the agency until recently. This response is meant to allay fears related to criticisms about the character of Ciri in the trailer.
No Release Date Yet
CDPR has not yet announced a release date or target platforms for The Witcher IV. The studio is keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of Cyberpunk 2077, emphasizing a cautious approach. While the entire company is contributing to the game's development, an official release date is still a ways off.
