Microsoft is expanding its "Xbox Anywhere" initiative through a partnership with LG Electronics to bring the Xbox App to select LG Smart TVs. This collaboration will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to access cloud gaming directly from their TVs.
Xbox Gaming on LG Smart TVs
This partnership will give LG Smart TV owners access to the Xbox Gaming portal. With a Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a compatible Bluetooth controller, users will be able to stream and play a variety of games, including highly anticipated titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Avowed. Additionally, Xbox Game Pass members will also be able to stream their own purchased games, with 50 compatible titles at launch (see the Xbox Wire page for a full list).

The specific LG Smart TV models that will support the Xbox App haven't been announced yet, but the Xbox Wire post states that the app will be available on new LG Smart TVs "later this year."

This move signifies Xbox's growing focus on cloud gaming as they expand beyond traditional console releases. While cloud gaming takes center stage, Phil Spencer has confirmed that they are also exploring future hardware and console options despite current challenges in profit and cost.
According to Mat Piscatella, despite recent challenges, Xbox is poised for a bright future, largely due to its push to make games available on as many platforms as possible, moving away from the traditional Xbox exclusivity model.
