Team Asobi's absolutely charming Astro Bot did it again. Astro Bot has just bagged another Game of the Year award, this time at the prestigious DICE Awards. If you have been following the award season, then you know for sure that Astro Bot has really had a month. This last win pretty much seals its number-one spot as a proud contender of the year.
DICE Awards: Industry's Choice
What is so special about the DICE Awards? These awards are presented by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) and voted on by industry professionals. Over 30,000 industry professionals participate. This is not a fan vote. It is game developers, artists, and creators giving recognition to other members of their own fraternity for excellence. This is significant recognition.
Astro Bot DICE Award Haul
It was not just the big one either. Astro Bot went away with a total of five awards from the DICE Awards, including:
- Game of the Year - the big one
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Design - for having great gameplay
- Outstanding Technical Achievement - for the technical prowess poured into the game
- Outstanding Achievement in Animation - for adorableness and expressiveness of the characters
- Family Game of the Year - fun for everyone
DICE 2025 Other Big Winners
While Astro Bot had its share of limelight, there were many other wonderful games to have come into the spotlight. Helldivers 2 was the other big winner, taking home four awards including Action Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also won three prizes, among them Adventure Game of the Year. Then again, there was the indie golden child Balatro, which took home three awards, including Mobile Game of the Year.
Legends of the Industry Honored
Aside from the games themselves, the DICE Awards also took time off to salute legends of the industry. Don James earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for his stellar contributions towards Nintendo and the gaming sector. Ted Price, the founder of Insomniac Games, was inducted into the Hall of Fame. This was a deserving honor.
Another Win for Astro
Congratulations again to Team Asobi for Astro Bot's ongoing successes. It looks apparent now that this game has dipped deep down in the hearts of both customers and industries. If you have not played it yet, this is probably your sign.
