Heart of Joy: The Age of New Vehicle Control
This new kind of transmission is the main feature of this prototype. It represents the modernization of "Heart of Joy" physical control. BMW designed it for all vehicle management operations, specifically:
- Transmission: For seamless power delivery.
- Braking: Precise and Responsive braking performance.
- Charging: Efficient and intelligent charging management. This includes energy consumption from the grid and energy fed into the battery.
- Energy Recuperation: Optimized recovery of energy during deceleration.
BMW states that this new system processes data ten times faster than the last two generations. Combined with Dynamic Performance Control technology, it provides an exceptionally accurate measure of real-time dynamic calculations during driving. The result is an improved driving experience. It also offers more stable handling and increased predictability of vehicle behavior on the road.
Improved Low-End Performance in Both Directions
The advantages of the "Heart of Joy" system are evident in day-to-day driving. At low speeds, such as in standstill traffic or parking maneuvers, system performance is dramatically improved. This includes speed acquisition and data processing concerning the driver and surroundings.
Test Platform for Future Neue Klasse Models
This Vision Vehicle is not intended for production in its current form. It serves as an experimental device for forward-looking transmission and dynamics control items. These are being developed specifically for the future Neue Klasse electric vehicle range. This range represents the next generation of BMW vehicles.
New Klasse in Production Soon
The first electric vehicle under the Neue Klasse banner will enter mass production by the end of 2025. Production will then expand to BMW's plant in Hungary.
