Excellent news for any gamer with a brand-new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics card. The black screen has been staring you in the face for days and weeks now. You are not alone. Indeed, the black-screen debacle has been surfacing for some users after they updated their drivers that were issued to support these powerful new GPUs. But now, help has arrived in the form of GeForce Driver 572.60.
The Black Screen Blues Be Gone
This latest Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA is aimed at the dreaded black screen halting the RTX 50 series. Driver updates for these RTX 50 owners became a bizarre 'Will my display even turn on?' game for some. Attempts with BIOS resets or troubleshooting to assert one's sanity proved a waste of time in this case. So let us hope that 572.60 has put an end to the alt-Tabbing display drama.
More Than Black Screens: The Driver's Fixes
And that is not all. This is not a one-hit-wonder when it comes to driver development by NVIDIA. They have addressed a whole bunch of other annoying bugs too. Consider this a preventive maintenance update on your GeForce experience. Here is a short list of what else was fixed:
- SteamVR Stuttering: Better performance on RTX 50 in SteamVR is coming.
- Adobe Substance 3D Sampler Crashes: No more crashes after launching with the new drivers for Adobe Substance 3D Sampler.
- Adobe Substance 3D Painter Texture Issues: Texture corruption on GPU raytracing baking result is history.
- VRay 6 Performance Boost: Expect a nice performance jump on CUDA Vpath Tests for Blackwell GPUs with VRay 6.
- General Black Screen Issues: Black screens not limited to problems with the RTX 50 series have been resolved too.
- Audio Glitches: Audio glitches should be resolved while using DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC at higher refresh rates.
- Image Corruption: Those subtle image corruptions on pixelated 2D patterns are fixed.
DLSS 4 Comes for Naraka: Bladepoint and Monster Hunter Wilds
For gamers, this driver release has some goodies as well. NARAKA: Bladepoint is now officially in the DLSS 4 support lineup. For those not in the know, DLSS 4 refers to NVIDIA's frame generation tech that can give a stark rise to your frame rates and, most possibly, do justice to your image quality (or enhance it). According to NVIDIA's performance claims for Naraka: Bladepoint, RTX 5090 users could be seeing frame rates soaring beyond 590 FPS in 4K with max settings. That is a lot of frames.
To add icing on the cake, Monster Hunter Wilds, an all-new title from Capcom, gets the free DLSS 4 boost straight out of the gate.
