iPhone Mini Discontinued: Apple Reportedly Ends Production
If you've been holding onto hope for a new iPhone mini, you might have to sit down. Recent rumors suggest the company has moved on from its truly tiny smartphone line. This is not confirmation from Apple, but the indication is strong.
No New iPhone Mini Models Planned
This information is reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Gurman is known for possessing Apple's insiders' information. In a recent Q&A, Gurman addressed the fate of the mini. He stated that Apple is not making any new mini models in any size.
Why the Move Away from Mini iPhones
It seems Apple's strategy has changed to larger screens. Gurman points out that the company is increasingly interested in having screens "larger, and larger, and larger." The expectation seems to be that as flagships get larger, the regular 6-inch phones will start to feel like the new small option in comparison.
Therefore, instead of a stand-alone 'mini' device, the standard iPhone might be the default for anyone who doesn't want the purely largest possible screen.
Hope for a Mini Comeback? Unlikely
Gurman does not rule out a mini comeback entirely. He states that Apple may reconsider the mini concept someday. This would only happen if they see strong market demand or potential for it. Until now, however, that is not what we are seeing.
iPhone 13 Mini: Likely the Last
That means the iPhone 13 mini, sold in 2021 with its pocketable 5.4-inch display, is likely the last of its kind in the foreseeable future. It seems the era of the truly small, high-end iPhones might be over.
