Lenovo Legion Tab Tested for Durability: Can This Gaming Tablet Survive?
Zach Nelson from JerryRigEverything recently subjected the Lenovo Legion Tab, also known as the Legion Y700 (2025), to his infamous durability gauntlet. The aim was to determine if this gaming tablet is as rugged as it is powerful.
Scratch, Burn, Bend: The Torture Tests
The scratch test began first. As expected, the Legion Tab's screen scratched at a typical level for modern tablets and smartphones. However, the metal body demonstrated its strength. The back casing resists bending or snapping easily. Next, the burn test used direct flame, resulting in temporary black marks on the screen. Fortunately, the pixels healed completely after cooling.
Bend Test Exposes a Vulnerability
The bend test was the critical moment. Tablets are not designed for bending, yet JerryRigEverything pushes devices to their limits to uncover weaknesses. The Legion Tab did bend, with the USB Type-C port on the side proving to be the weakest point. Force applied near the port could crack the side frame. The takeaway is to avoid excessive force near the USB-C port, especially during intense gaming.
Inside the Beast: Teardown Analysis
After the durability tests, a teardown revealed the tablet's internal design. Disassembly was surprisingly straightforward. Heat loosened the screen adhesive, and the display panel detached easily. Underneath, a massive copper vapor chamber was revealed. JerryRigEverything expressed his impressiveness, noting such a large cooling solution is rare in mobile devices. Lenovo prioritized cooling in this gaming tablet design.
Deeper inside, the tablet contains two 3275 mAh batteries. Lenovo simplified battery removal by including handy pull tabs. The teardown concluded that the Legion Tab is easily disassembled. This is positive for future repairs, though hopefully unnecessary.
The Verdict: Gaming Tough and Impressively Cooled
The Lenovo Legion Tab performed well in JerryRigEverything's tests. It is not indestructible, as no tablet is. However, the metal build and excellent cooling system are significant advantages. Avoid bending it forcefully near the USB-C port after a gaming defeat. Be assured it possesses a seriously large vapor chamber to maintain cool temperatures during demanding games.
