Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition: Creative Reins Handed to Users

Nothing is handing the creative reins back to its users. This is for a limited edition of the just-released Nothing Phone (3a).

The Community Edition Project is Back

Following the success of last year's project, which resulted in an exclusive, one-off Phone (2a), Nothing is inviting everyone to contribute ideas for the Phone (3a) Community Edition. It is an opportunity for enthusiasts to leave an instant mark on the design, touch, and even marketing of a real product.

Design Categories

Nothing invites flashes of creativity into a variety of categories:

  • Hardware & Packaging: Unique colors, materials, finishes, or even unboxing are welcome.
  • Software: Concepts for great wallpapers, unique lockscreen clocks, fabulous unlock animations, or handy widgets are encouraged.
  • Marketing: Ideas on how to get the news of this limited edition phone out to the world are needed.
  • Accessories/Merchandise: Develop complementary gear or swag - a new category this year.

Community members will vote on submissions. A panel of judges will also vote to choose the winners.

The Reward for Winners

Four winners, one per category, will collaborate directly with the Nothing team in London. They will turn their ideas into an actual phone. Nothing adds a cash prize this year, adding a premium to the creative process and the travel.

Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition Finale

The overall winning ideas combined will result in the official Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition. The novelty phone will become available at the end of the year. As with the previous one, it should be buyable, likely in tiny numbers, making it extremely exclusive.

Success Speaks Volumes

Nothing is repeating this endeavor because success speaks volumes. The Phone (2a) Community Edition, with its neon-in-the-dark look, was not a one-hit wonder. It reportedly sold out in 15 minutes and even earned a well-respected Gold iF Design Award. It seems doing things for the community is popular.

Submit Your Vision Now

Do not wait too long. Submissions are open now. You have until April 23rd (11:00 AM GMT) to submit your ideas. Winners will be announced at the end of April.

Important Note: The competition is for the Nothing Phone (3a) only, and not the Phone (3a) Pro model.
