In the market for a new smartphone and love choice? Tecno just launched an entire family of devices, in the new Camon 40 Series. Instead of one or two new phones, they announced four separate models. There is likely a Camon 40 to suit your need and budget.
So, what exactly is Tecno bringing to the table in this new range of devices?
Tecno Camon 40 & Camon 40 Pro: Solid 4G Performers
The Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro are the less-pricey 4G LTE members of the family for those that don't require the fastest speeds possible, or need something a bit easier on the bank balance. These two phones are quite similar since they share many core features, although they do have some key differences.
On the inside, both are powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 chipset. This should give a decent mix of performance for regular tasks along with slight gaming. You get plenty of real estate for visuals on a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a lush 120Hz refresh rate and crisp Full HD+ resolution. Battery life shouldn’t be a worry either, with a good sized 5,200mAh battery with 45W fast charging.
Camon 40 Pro: Enhanced Selfie Camera
So what differentiates the Pro from the regular Camon 40? At its core, the main difference is in the selfie camera. The Camon 40 Pro now has a more detailed 50MP front camera for clearer and HD selfies than the regular Camon 40 which settles for a 32MP front shooter. On the back, both phones house an identical capable camera setup: a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for sharper photos and videos at all times of day, an 8MP ultrawide lens for expansive scenes, and a depth sensor for portrait mode effects.
Camon 40 Pro 5G: Preparing for a New Generation
If you can’t do without 5G, then the Camon 40 Pro 5G is the obvious step up. At its core, it’s very similar to the 4G Pro model – same design, same battery, same camera setup. Under the hood, the most notable change is swapping out a Helio G100 for a Dimensity 7300 SoC. This new chipset also nodes 5G connectivity for blazing fast download and upload speeds where available.
Camon 40 Premier 5G: The Ultimate Experience
If you are interested in the best possible Camon 40 experience, look no further than the Camon 40 Premier 5G. It is the most obvious flagship of the bunch with bolder aesthetics, particularly with the more pronounced circular camera module at the back. At the bottom of this camera module sits a frankly bonkers smorgasbord of a triple 50MP camera system. You also get 50MP for the main wide lens (it's OIS, obviously), 50MP for ultrawide shots, and there is also a 50MP lens for 3x optical zoom. This offers versatility in photography.
Selfie lovers are also taken into account, as the Premier 5G also has a 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus, for sharp and detailed self-portraits.
Under the hood of this flagship model is the Dimensity 8350 chip, which not only ice cream has more power than the other 5G model. The battery is smaller by 100mAh, at 5,100mAh, but it makes up for it with greatly improved 70W charging, so you'll be spending less time plugged in.
And yet, there’s a bump in the display quality as well. The panel on the Camon 40 Premier 5G is slightly smaller at 6.67-inches, but comes with a higher resolution of 1260p, and an even faster 144Hz refresh rate for super silky scrolling and gaming.
Price and Availability: Yet To Come
Tecno has not yet specified pricing on the new Camon 40 series phones or say a precise availability time frame for various regions. Nonetheless, further specifics should be uncovered with the rollout of these units across regions. If you're looking to grab one of these new Tecno Camon 40 smartphones, make sure to check for updates.
