Wildgate Unveiled: Sci-Fi Shooter from Blizzard Founder Mike Morheim
Get ready for something new from an old name. One of the founders of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morheim, is back with a brand new game from his Moonshot Games studio. They have just unveiled Wildgate, a ambitious multiplayer science fiction shooter.
What Is Wildgate All About?
Imagine bursting into frenzied team-based battles, likely between four-man groups as opposing teams. But with a twist: the battle itself, a constantly changing sci-fi landscape, changes every time you play thanks to procedural generation. Your main goal is to grab a valuable relic and get out cleanly before the other team – or something else – can stop you.
Wildgate looks to be organizing more than just simplistic shooting. You will get a selection of characters that have unique abilities, adding a bit of strategy to the shootouts. And it is not solely boots-on-the-ground combat because you will also fly spaceships. Do not count on just other players but also AI-monstered creatures lurking in these harsh environments.
Some initial reports are likening the experience to a "Sea of Thieves in space." This implies that Wildgate could provide a more robust ecosystem than mere PvP, with potential for exploration, completing quests, and interacting with the world in other ways.
Want to Try It Early?
Good news for eager players. The first public test for Wildgate is arriving shortly, from April 10th to April 14th. If you are eager to get involved, you will have to sign up over on the official Wildgate website (link likely up soon or via Moonshot Games).
