AMD RDNA 4 Mobile GPUs Leaked: Potential Radeon RX 9000M Series Specs Emerge
Big news for PC enthusiasts and AMD followers. Yes, we've already begun to see AMD's RDNA 4 graphics architecture appear in desktop boards, but its entry into the mobile sector hasn't quite made much of a splash just yet. Well, if recent rumors are any measure, however, that is rapidly changing. There are rumors circulating that Team Red is developing a series of RDNA 4 mobile GPUs, and yesterday a list of six potential models surfaced, suggesting some serious juice for upcoming notebooks.
What This Leak Implies About the Mobile Lineup
According to leaked details from a source by the handle @All_The_Watts, we might be seeing a line of new Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards designed specifically for laptops. Let's break down what the leak indicates:
- At the top of the stack, we might have the RX 9080M. This would-be flagship is said to use the Navi 48 chip with 64 Compute Units (CUs) and an impressive 16GB of VRAM.
- Coming in just under that, also on the Navi 48 silicon, is the supposed Radeon RX 9070M XT. This model is featured with 48 CUs and also features 16GB of VRAM.
- Moving into the middle tier, the leak identifies models using the Navi 44 chip. This would include the Radeon RX 9070 M and RX 9070S, which are both reported to have 32 CUs and 8GB of VRAM.
- Rounding out the list are the entry-to-mid models, the Radeon RX 9060 M and RX 9060S. These are found with 28 CUs and 8GB of VRAM.
Based on these potential specs, it appears 8GB of VRAM is going to be the base model option on these new RDNA 4 mobile graphics processors.
A Note of Caution and What's Next
Remember that this is coming from a leak, and anything can always change. We still haven't gotten official confirmation from AMD regarding these specific models or their specs for the mobile market.
Interestingly, while these stand-alone mobile GPUs would be getting RDNA 4, AMD has decided to use the RDNA 3.5 architecture for integrated graphics in their upcoming APUs like Strix Halo and Medusa Point. So, RDNA 4 in laptops seems to be meant for dedicated GPUs alone at the moment.
When can we anticipate official word. Lots of people are guessing that we will receive word of a potential release of the AMD Radeon 9000M notebook graphics card series at some point fairly soon, perhaps with Computex 2025 on the horizon. The conference would also be when potentially desktop Radeon RX 9060 discrete graphics cards would ship.
Look forward to official announcements from AMD to get their entire scoop on RDNA 4 laptop strategy.
