Devil May Cry 6 Rumors Swirl: Accidental Confirmation Sparks Fan Frenzy
Right on the heels of the debut of the new Devil May Cry animated series, the rumor machine is grinding out again. This time it's got some serious juice. History suggests something about Capcom. Consider Dragon's Dogma and Onimusha. Animation adaptations tend to come before the announcement of a new game. Dante's tale might be continuing earlier than expected.
Accidental Confirmation or Just a Slip of the Tongue
The latest buzz is thanks to an interview with Dante's voice himself, Ruben Langdon. When talking with the YouTube channel CultureScape, Langdon may have just let the cat out of the bag. Fans' ears perked up when he reportedly said "Devil May Cry 6".
Naturally, the internet was immediately buzzing with anticipation. Word of a new Devil May Cry game is always going to have fans chattering. Before getting too carried away, context is important. Langdon was discussing fan criticism of DmC: Devil May Cry, the Ninja Theory reboot. Then he stated that Capcom "came back with Devil May Cry six, in the sense five."
Was it an actual slip, revealing a game in development? Or was it just a slightly clumsily worded way of stating Capcom went back to the mainline series with Devil May Cry 5 after the reboot experiment
History Might Be Repeating Itself
That's where things start to get interesting. Something similarly similar had happened to Dan Southworth, the voice of Virgil (Dante's brother). He inadvertently let slip that Devil May Cry 5 existed at a fan convention before official announcement. This spooky coincidence is definitely fueling the DMC6 speculation.
Hope Remains High
Although Langdon's statement might have just been an error, the timing and previous accident on the part of Southworth have fans holding their breath and hoping for the best. Capcom could be on the verge of announcing Devil May Cry 6 anytime now. Only time will know. One thing is certain. The Devil May Cry fanbase is certainly waiting to see more demon-slaying action.
