Honor 400 Lite Arrives to Challenge Budget Smartphone Norms
Honor has finally brought its new entry into the extremely competitive budget smartphone market: the Honor 400 Lite. The phone is not trying to drain your wallet, but it's packed with a surprising list of features that might make you think twice about it. Here's what drives this new phone.
Display That Dazzles
Impressions matter, and the Honor 400 Lite makes an impression in that respect with its 6.7-inch AMOLED display. We're referring to deep colors and dark blacks, thanks to that AMOLED tech. It's a crisp Full HD+ resolution (2412x1080) and a remarkably silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate – scrolling and transitions should be buttery smooth. And for the sunnier days, Honor is quoting a maximum brightness of a whopping 3500 nits. Moreover, it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, so colors should be rich and accurate.
Built Tougher Than Expected
Budget phones are not usually tough, but Honor is making bold claims here. The 400 Lite boasts a five-star SGS rating for water resistance (IP65) – so it should be able to handle splashes and dust with ease. More surprisingly, Honor says it can withstand drops of up to 1.8 meters. That's some serious peace of mind for a phone at this price.
Power and Performance
In the engine, the Honor 400 Lite runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra processor. Although not a high-end chip, this processor will provide a decent mix of performance and efficiency for routine activities and even some gaming. It's supported by an ample 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage – a lot of room for your apps, photos, and videos.
Camera Chops: 108MP Main Sensor
Camera is of course a big focus for the Honor 400 Lite. It's got a 108-megapixel primary camera with f/1.75 aperture. That big megapixel count combined with a moderate aperture should serve to keep it coping with varied lighting conditions just fine. The primary sensor aside, you have a 5MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2) to use when shooting broader scenes, and a 16MP selfie camera on the front side.
Dedicated Camera Button
A welcome little feature: Honor 400 Lite has a physical camera button. Light press opens the camera app, an additional press takes a shot, easy pressing zooms, and holding takes video. This could be an extremely handy feature for grab shots.
Battery Life and Design
Keeping the lights shining with a 5230mAh battery, supported by 35W fast charging. That's a generous battery life that should comfortably see through most users during the day. The phone, too, is remarkably skinny at 7.29mm and light at 171 grams. It has Android 15 installed and includes some AI-powered features like real-time translation and a photo eraser.
Pricing and Potential
Honor hasn't yet announced the official price of the 400 Lite, but it's clearly positioned as a budget option. At the correct price, the Honor 400 Lite could be a big winner for people who want an excellent all-around smartphone without paying too much, especially if you value a good screen and camera in a toughened-up body.
