Presenting the HUAWEI Enjoy 80: Tough, Long-Lasting, and Not Surprisingly Affordable
Want a phone that can withstand some bumps and bruises and still last you a day. HUAWEI recently released the Enjoy 80 in China. On paper, at least, it checks all those boxes without breaking the bank. The new release is all about practical day-to-day usability with its durable build, great battery life, and easily discernible design.
Display and Durability
The HUAWEI Enjoy 80 features a big 6.67-inch IPS display. While the resolution is 1604x720 pixels, it also includes a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a very high peak brightness of 1000 nits. HUAWEI also mentions that the touch screen is designed to work normally even if your fingers are wet. This is a nice consideration for everyday spills or hurried actions. And speaking of durability, the phone's body carries a "double five-star certificate" for drop resistance from SGS. It also has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. So, it's built to withstand more than your average phone.
Under the Hood and Camera
While HUAWEI hasn't announced the specific model of the processor powering the Enjoy 80, we do know that it carries a decent 8 GB of RAM. Storage is also highly flexible and varies from 128 GB to a spacious 512 GB. You should have plenty of room for apps and images. For taking photographs, you get a 50 MP main camera on the back with an f/1.8 aperture. An 8 MP front camera is included for video calls and selfies.
Battery Life That Lasts and Quick Charging
Battery anxiety. The Enjoy 80 is seeking to solve that with a large 6620 mAh battery. This should comfortably get you through a full day, if not more, of typical use. When you do need to charge, it supports 40W fast charging. You won't be waiting around too long to be back up to full.
A Handy Extra Button and Color Options
A welcome touch is the inclusion of a physical button on the side. You can program this button to immediately launch an app or function, adding an additional layer of convenience. The phone is launching in four colors that are very appealing in the Chinese market: classic blue, black, white, and a new green.
Price Point
This is where the phone becomes very intriguing for a device with these features and durability ambitions:
- HUAWEI Enjoy 80 (8GB RAM / 128GB Storage): From just $167
- HUAWEI Enjoy 80 (8GB RAM / 256GB Storage): Nearly $195
- HUAWEI Enjoy 80 (8GB RAM / 512GB Storage): Around $237
With its focus on pragmatism, toughness, and a surprisingly large battery, the HUAWEI Enjoy 80 looks like it will be a good option for the budget smartphone segment. Particularly for those who need a reliable handset without the premium price.
