New ASUS ExpertBook P1 Series: Built for Your Business
ASUS just rolled out their new ExpertBook P1 series laptops. They are clearly gunning to become the professionals' go-to laptop. These are not flashy, consumer-grade notebooks. The ExpertBook P1 is business only, combining performance with practicality and security. Let's examine what drives these new laptops.
Power for Professionals: Inside the ExpertBook P1 (PM15)
The top model, the ASUS ExpertBook P1 (PM15), boasts a 15.6-inch Full HD display. That's 1920x1080 pixels, more than sharp enough for spreadsheets and presentations. Up to 300 nits luminance is attained, sufficient under most office illumination. It produces 45% of the NTSC color space, sufficiently fine for business uses, perhaps not for color-related work of the creative variety.
Under the hood is where things get really interesting. ASUS is offering choices with either a Ryzen 7 7735HS or a Ryzen 5 7535HS processor. These are new, potent chips ready to take on heavy loads. Memory options go up to a staggering 64GB of DDR5-4800 RAM. Storage will not be an issue either, with dual M.2 slots able to support up to 2TB of quick PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
Connectivity and Practicality
For plugging in peripherals and accessories, the ExpertBook P1 (PM15) features a good set of ports:
- Two fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports – perfect for new devices and docking.
- Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports for typical USB devices.
- A standard HDMI 1.4b port for plugging into external displays.
- A standard 3.5mm headphone jack for audio.
Battery life is also a concern for mobile professionals. ASUS offers battery options of either 50Wh or a larger 63Wh, both with 65-watt fast charging to get you up and running in no time.
Rounding out the features are functional touches like a webcam with a privacy shutter, a requirement for security-conscious users, a fingerprint reader for fast and secure logins, stereo speakers, and dual microphones with AI noise reduction to enable clear communication on calls.
Portable Power: The ExpertBook P1 (PM14)
If you prefer something a bit more portable, there's the ASUS ExpertBook P1 (PM14). As promised by the name, it has a 14-inch screen, also in Full HD resolution (1920x1080), but also sharing the same 300 nit brightness and 45% NTSC color gamut of its larger sibling. In a surprise twist, ASUS left the rest of the core specifications of the 15.6-inch model untouched. Expect the same processor choices, RAM and storage sizes, and port selection but in a smaller package.
Pricing and Availability
ASUS has not yet announced the prices or exact release dates for the new ExpertBook P1 line.
