Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hike Warns President
Hype about Nintendo Switch 2 cannot be discounted. Rumors about its likely cost are also present. It's a furious argument, and understandably so. A new console is no trifling expense. Lately, individuals have been discussing the issues of just how expensive it is likely to be. Theories suggest it could break the bank for some gamers.
Doug Bowser's Opinion: Buy the First Switch
In a recent interview, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser addressed these concerns about price directly. His message is clear. For those who are concerned that the price of the Switch 2 is a bit too steep, the original Nintendo Switch remains a great option.
Bowser illustrated that Nintendo knows not everyone will be able to jump to the newest console right away. As a result, they've ensured the existing Nintendo Switch range of consoles remains accessible. This includes the original Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. His point was simple. Nintendo's plan is for everyone to be able to play their games and worlds, regardless of what Switch device they have.
As quoted by Bowser, "We know that the price of Switch 2 may be a barrier for some. That's why we've made a conscious effort to keep our other Switch platforms in the market. We want to ensure everyone has the chance to enter the Nintendo world, experience our characters and worlds, and feel valued as part of our gaming community, no matter what platform they play on."
Reaching for Success: Following in the Original's Footsteps
Nintendo also expressed its wish for the Switch 2 to be as successful as the original Switch. The original console has sold over 150 million units worldwide. This is a phenomenal achievement at least partly thanks to its low price point when it launched. The question now is whether the Switch 2 can replicate that success in the current market, and at perhaps a more expensive price. Only time will tell the answer as to whether the new console will be able to create the same widespread appeal and register those record sales figures.
For now, Bowser's missive is reassuring. Nintendo offers plenty of options. The joy of playing is within reach of lots of people. This is true no matter if they're playing on the latest gear or the still-going-strong initial Switch.
