Painkiller Reboot Trailer: Prepare for Absolute Demonic Chaos
Recall the absolute, pure chaos of Painkiller. Get set to experience it again, or for the very first time. The reboot is shaping up to be something special. An entirely new trailer has just been released, unveiled at the Galaxies event. It is packed with all we adored (and more) about the stake-gunning, demon-slaying classic.
Weapon Showcase: Prepare for Demonic Mayhem
This is not a tease. This is a minute-long happy celebration of the guns you will be tearing through the hellish hordes with. They look deliciously destructive. Here is a taste of the pain you will be dishing out:
- Electrodriver: Imagine shurikens, but electrified and bouncing off walls to chain lightning between enemies. Sounds fun? It looks even better in action.
- Stakegun: The original is returning. Pin demons to walls with high-caliber stakes. Do we really need to say more? It still comes with a grenade launcher for extra carnage.
- SMG: When you need to fill a space with lead, the SMG is your friend. This time out, it is also equipped with a flame – burn those devils to cinders.
- Handcannon: Long-range demon-head-popping accuracy at its finest. Satisfyingly deadly accuracy to be had.
- Shotgun: Close quarters? The shotgun is back to tear enemies apart into oblivion with a satisfying spread of shot. As an added extra, it can freeze enemies now.
- Rocket Launcher: When you need to clear a room fast. Explosions, area damage, and stun potential – the rocket launcher makes an appearance.
- Painkiller: The signature weapon itself. Spinning blades of death that hook enemies and reload your ammo. Yes, please. It even includes an upgraded melee attack for close and personal.
Choose Your Slayer: Characters and Co-op
This reboot is not just a graphics update. It is reworking the Painkiller formula. You will have the option to play as four different characters – Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch. Each will bring their own particular advantages to the demon bash. Want to boost your health to the max? Maybe put it all on damage? Your choice.
The biggest surprise of all is co-operative multiplayer. Play through with friends to cause even more chaos. How will this change the classic Painkiller gameplay? We cannot wait to discover.
The Stakegun: Still the King?
Let's get real. For many Painkiller enthusiasts, it all comes down to the stakegun. The trailer thankfully puts any worries to rest. Yes, you can still pin enemies to walls to your heart's content. It is gruesome, it is great, and it is exactly what we wanted to see.
Hyped We Definitely Are
Following the first unveiling, there were doubts. Would the reboot be able to grasp the essence of the original? This new trailer responds with a resounding YES. It is quick, it is vicious, it is over-the-top, and it is Painkiller to the core, but cranked up for a new generation. The guns look great, the action is frantic, and we are ticking off the days until we can get our hands on it.
Painkiller is set to return later this year on PS5 and PC. Watch out – purgatory is going to get a whole lot busier and a whole lot more painful for the demons.
