Remedy Unveils FBC Firebreak: A New Cooperative Shooter Experience
We all know Remedy Entertainment for their incredible single-player, story-driven games. Games such as Max Payne and Alan Wake come to mind. These are replete with cinematic flair and third-person action. But it seems even studios with a strong identity don't mind messing around sometimes. Remedy recently announced they were working on a cooperative shooter called FBC: Firebreak. Gamers are now wondering if this solo story master should keep going into multiplayer territory.
We don't have long to wait and find out. Remedy recently did a stream where they dropped the bomb. This included the release date that matters most.
Mark Your Calendars: June 17th
Get ready, as FBC: Firebreak is officially launching on June 17th. That's the day you'll be able to jump into the action on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. Subscribers also have something to smile about. It's also coming out on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus services at launch time.
Editions and Pricing
If you're going to buy it straight up, you'll have a couple of options:
- The standard edition will set you back $40.
- A Deluxe Edition is also available for $50. For an extra ten bucks, you'll get some cosmetic add-ons that'll allow you to customise your look in the game.
What exactly is FBC: Firebreak
If you're a Remedy fan, then you may already know what 'FBC' stands for. FBC: Firebreak is actually a spin-off of their most popular supernatural thriller, Control. The game takes place in the enigmatic, fluid Oldest House. This is a place familiar to anyone who played Control. Even though this is purely a multiplayer outing, the developers have chosen an interesting tack. They're not going to have daily quests or the like. No, they want players to log in and play because they *want* to, not because they have to fulfill some list of tasks. It's a refreshing philosophy for a multiplayer title.
So, come June 17th, we’ll finally see if Remedy's jump into the cooperative shooter genre is a success. It's certainly a bold move for a studio with their reputation.
