Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Full Release Date Revealed
Get ready to mark your calendars because the wait is shortly to be over for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. The independent Polish game developer, Questline, who previously presented us with the similarly well-liked Tainted Grail: Conquest, has now declared the official launch date for their much bigger, open-world title.
Leaving Early Access: The Journey to Version 1.0
This isn't any ol' release. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has been under active development on Steam Early Access for a good couple of years. It has been iterating based on feedback and growing. Now it's finally ready to shine with its full 1.0 release. Put May 23, 2025 in your calendars. That's when the game officially releases not just on PC via Steam, but also on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Welcome to a Grimmer Avalon
Let's talk world. Forget the shining tales of Camelot you've grown up with. Tainted Grail retell Arthurian legends with a deep, dark fantasy twist. King Arthur is dead, the ancient legends are rotting, and the Avalon island is resisting mysterious menaces like the spreading 'Red Death' disease and the unnatural 'Wyrdness'. It's a world slowly falling to anarchy, filled with desperate people and belligerent factions all scrambling to stay alive.
Your quest begins from zero – literally, trapped in a damp cell. As you break free, you'll navigate this grimy, hard world. Your choices actually matter and will ultimately shape the fate of King Arthur's fading legend.
Version 1.0 is Totally Full
The dev team has toiled away in Early Access. The sheer amount of content that comes with the 1.0 release is staggering. They've even described it as 'crazy'. So get ready for a rather big experience. They estimate it will take between 50 to 70 hours to complete.
Here's a preview of what you can expect:
- Three enormous areas to explore: Enter the Misty Horns of the South, the sun-kissed Cuanacht, and the frozen Forlorn Swords.
- A mind-boggling 250+ unique individual NPCs, each voiced in full, that will awaken the world around you.
- Over 200 side quests to devour you for hours on end.
- Fight 100+ distinct individual enemies (including variations), each offering a distinct challenge.
- Explore 75+ dungeons, hidden with secrets and danger.
- An enormous main quest with branching story and dozens of endings, promoting plenty of replay value.
- Discover over 400 unique weapons, including shields, and over 55 unique spells and 14 soul cubes.
New Launch Features
In response to community feedback, 1.0 introduces a third-person perspective. While Questline pointed out it's an early adoptation, it's a great addition for accessibility, particularly for players who have motion sickness issues with first-person perspectives. A full release means brand new Achievements to unlock as you face the dangers of Avalon.
Beyond the Horizon
It seems the devs are actually proud and maybe even surprised themselves at how massive Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has gotten. They've spoken about drawing from old-school RPGs. They want to provide players with a memorable experience that will linger long after the credits roll.
So, are you ready to step into a collapsing universe, make tough choices, and forge your own path in a dark, twisted reimagining of an ancient myth. May 23, 2025 can't come soon enough.
