A recent patent filing suggests Samsung might be working on a foldable gaming handheld. Now, a report from leaker @Jukanlosreve indicates that development might be progressing.
According to the leak, Samsung is developing a Linux Vulkan driver for its Exynos Xclipse GPUs. Vulkan is well-suited for low-power devices, suggesting a focus on mobile gaming. The leaker also mentions that Valve is working on ARM support for SteamOS, further hinting at a potential rise in portable gaming devices.
While Samsung's current Exynos SoCs may not match the performance of leading gaming handhelds like the Legion Go, their AMD RDNA graphics technology holds promise. The popular Steam Deck and ROG Ally also utilize RDNA integrated GPUs. However, Samsung is currently focused on stabilizing its 3nm process, so a high-performance gaming handheld might still be some time away.
