AMD is reportedly preparing to launch the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, a new flagship mobile CPU featuring 3D V-Cache technology.

AMD is reportedly planning to launch a new flagship mobile CPU, the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, featuring their impressive 3D V-Cache technology. This new chip, part of the Fire Range series, aims to deliver top-tier gaming performance on laptops.

AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D: Flagship Mobile CPU with 3D V-Cache Rumored

The current Ryzen 7000HX series, codenamed “Dragon Range,” launched last year with up to 16 Zen 4 cores. These chips are repurposed desktop processors adapted for laptops with lower power limits. AMD later introduced the 7945HX3D, their first mobile chip with 3D V-Cache, which was praised for its gaming capabilities but suffered from limited availability and high costs.

The rumored Ryzen 9 9955HX3D is expected to utilize the same I/O die as the desktop Raphael series. This means that while the CPU cores will be upgraded to Zen 5, the integrated graphics will likely remain unchanged. The third ‘5’ in the model number is said to signify the use of the Zen 5 architecture.

The pre-announcement of the 9955HX3D happened during an AMD product showcase to the media, where it was confirmed that they are developing such a chip but are still evaluating its adoption, according to Chinese blogger Golden Pig Upgrade. The official announcement for the Ryzen 9000HX series is expected in two days during CES. It is believed that at least two versions will be launched, one with and one without 3D V-Cache.

Please note that this information is based on rumors and has not been officially confirmed by AMD.
