Leaker @momomo_us has revealed the first images of upcoming ASUS motherboards featuring AMD's new B840 and B850 chipsets, along with Intel's B860 chipset. These new boards appear to be aimed at budget-conscious PC builders.
AMD and Intel Chipsets in One Lineup?
It's important to note that the B840, B850, and B860 chipsets are not from the same generation, nor the same vendors. AMD is expected to launch its B840 and B850 chipsets at CES 2025, while Intel is preparing to introduce its B860 chipset. This may lead to some confusion among buyers, requiring careful attention to compatibility.
Fortunately, each motherboard box is clearly labeled for either AMD or Intel CPUs. Buyers only need to check the socket type and the compatible CPUs. The Intel B860 chipset will initially support five CPU models, but this lineup is expected to grow with the launch of the Core Ultra 200 non-K series.
ASUS Motherboard Lineup
ASUS is preparing a range of motherboards for the mid-range segment, including ROG Strix, TUF, and PRIME models in both ATX and Micro-ATX form factors. Currently, there is no indication of Mini-ITX boards or ROG Maximus/Crosshair series, which are typically reserved for higher-end chipsets.
